Swedtel contract to support Angolan regulatory authority

Swedtel International AB has signed an agreement regarding institutional support to lead reinforcement of the Angolan regulatory authority.

The Ministry of Post and Telecommunications of Angola has signed an agreement with Swedtel to support the reinforcement of the Angolan regulatory authority, INACOM. Swedtel will lead the project making the telecom services and other ICT services in Angola efficient and competitive and thereby create conditions for competition for the benefit of the consumers in Angola. The project has been scheduled to be carried out in two phases. The first phase previously finalized by Swedtel covered inception reporting and detailed planning. The second phase now starting includes implementation of the detailed plans, and will run for 18 months and involve five professional consultants. Included in the project is also to provide the needed trained and skilled personnel within the sector.

“We have recognized that a highly competent and efficient regulatory authority is key to make modern telecoms serve and inject business productivity into national markets”, says Lennart Lundahl, Swedtel VP Africa. “It is always a delight to also be entrusted the implementation phase of a development project, and even more so motivating when you also was trusted to do the initial planning”, says CEO Per Dahl.
