Interconnection planning and strategy for Omantel in Oman Swedtel is providing Omantel, Oman’s national operator, with global interconnect and regulatory experience and skills to prime it for the introduction of future competition. We are sharing our experience with Omantel through implementation and operational tasks. Throughout this process we are acting as advisers, coaches and guides contributing with management, project managers and manpower. For more information e-mail info@swedtel.com Contract signed The contract with Omantel, signed in January 2004 spanned the development and implementation of suitable strategies and work methodologies. We also worked with Omantel to prepare its organization for deregulation by establishing the chosen technical interfaces and interconnect product definitions, as well as preparing for managing the regulatory interventions locally, while complying with WTO requirements. Strategy and methodology Working closely with the client, we also established the required steering documents; such as interconnect policy documents, account separation and calculation procedures and the headline Reference Interconnect Offer (RIO). In parallel with forming the strategy and methodology for negotiations with future market entrants, Swedtel also supported and assisted Omantel's new interconnect organization.
